Back in 1934 the company started manufacturing very precise watch movements and watches under the brand name Foresta.
From chronometers to orthodontic braces
Fourty years later, the structural change caused by low-price manufacturers from the Far East was clearly felt in the jewellery and watch-making industry. The grandsons of the company founder were aware of the need for change. Whilst Gerhard Förster started to build up a jewellery production in Mauritius, Rolf Förster dedicated himself to a completely new line of business – the production of orthodontic products.
To orthodontic anchorage problems, FORESTADENT recently presented thelatest generation of it’s cortical anchorage system, the Ortho Easy.The versatile octagon head is designed like a standard bracket with a.022” cross-slot. Anchors and springs precisely fitting the cross slotof the OrthoEasy help connect the pins to any orthodontic appliance andmake it a complete system.
Due to the close cooperation with orthodontists in private practicesas well as in universities FORESTADENT products are intensely testedbefore market launch and it is guaranteed that new products areconstantly enhanced and optimised. Many Forestadent products have beenused for dissertations and postgraduate studies resulting in thecompany being scientifically up-to-date.
More than 240 international patents stand for the technologicalcompetence of FORESTADENT as a result of a long lasting and constantinnovation process.

Today, Forestadent’s innovative products are supplied to more than 70countries. 200 dedicated employees at the main production site inPforzheim manufacture high precision products for the worldwidemarkets. Within the line of our comprehensive course program we organise numerous national and international education events each year. Professional orthodontic meetings and workshops on practice management offer multifaceted topics and help orthodontists to stay up-to-date.
In October 2007, FORESTADENT celebrated its centenary by organising an orthodontic symposium on the island of Majorca. Three days filled with scientific highlights and a spectacular social program. Internationally well-known speakers presented the latest techniques, materials and study results and gave interesting forecasts for future developments. More than 400 participants from 41 nations enthusiastically followed the presentations of the world’s best.
Family business in fourth generation
FORESTADENT is still run by the family of the company founder. In the fourth generation, the great-grandchildren Anja and Stefan Förster have taken over the day-to-day business. With great skills and intuition for new trends they are continuing the 100 year old success story.
