HISTORY:


Douro the oldest demarcated region in the world, established in 1758 by the Marquis of Pombal and Frei João de Mansilha, himself a native of Santa Marta. The matchless beauty of the hillsides of the Corgo Valley and the area’s historic heritage Combine with a hospitable and hard-working population to make the region an increasingly popular tourist destination.
Situated amidst a “sea of vineyards�in the historic Terras de Penaguião district, the patron saint of the Douro, grew and merged with two other important nearby wineries, Cumieira and Medrões, to make history.



Today, with over 2000 members, produce a tenth of all the wine produced in the Douro Demarcated Region, some 12 million bottles �5 million bottles of port wine and 7 million bottles of Douro table wines, sparkling wines and aged brandies.
